PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE
The Business for South Africa’s Covid-19 initiative is being supported by a coalition of volunteer resources from across the South African business community, and including leading professional services firms, law firms and communication specialists.
This support is structured within an established PMO, which has the capability to coordinate activities within and between the following four foundational working groups:
- Public health – led by Stavros Nicolaou
- Economic intervention - led by Martin Kingston
- Labour market - led by Rob Legh; and
- Communications - led by Busi Mavuso and Phumzile Langeni
- Legal - led by Glenn Penfold
Critical support activities are being carried out for, amongst others, tax, legal, supply chain, logistics, risk, analytics and business continuity management.
The role of the PMO is to:
- Provide regular progress updates to the Executive Steering Committee;
- Timeously escalate risks and issues to the Executive Steering Committee;
- Provide programme management office support to the working group leads;
- Assist with the identification of working group risks, issues and resource requirements;
- Assist with the monitoring of progress against planned initiatives, mitigation of risks and issues, etc;
- Identify key stakeholders and ensure continued engagement with both the public and private sector stakeholders; and
- Provide and deliver clear messaging on behalf of Business for South Africa and monitor the websites to consolidate pledges and offers of support, namely: solidarityfund.co.za and businessforsa.org
